In the Biz: Mimi Dakar
Last week in Marketing Promotions class, we had a guestspeaker by the name of Mimi Dakar. She is the daughter to facialist to the star, Ms Sonya Dakar herself here in Beverly Hills. Mimi is a FIT advertising grad and bring her NYC attitude to whip together PR campaigns, special events, gifting lounges and desk-side galore.
When I grow up, I want to be a guest speaker with fabulous shoes.
Sonya Dakar's story is truly from Homemade to Hollywood. The family immigrated to the US from Israel in 1971 and started a skincare clinic from home. Sonya's no non-sense methods delivered true results and clear skin. In the 90's one of those faces cleared of acne was that of Drew Barrymore's. The buzz continued and now they are in a 12000 sq ft facility in the heart of Beverly Hills. It is a beauty mecca, a retail space and a great venue of celebrity gifting suites during awards season.

Mimi says: "I don't want to be associated with an event that is not up to par with what I'd produce." and about celebs at events... "If you don't see a photo, who cares if they were there?" Very true.. sounds a lot like what my girl over at WWW says too.
