JENNY JC

She's a Scorpio: intense, in control, extreme. If you havent seen her on Youtube, Facebook or in the clubs then you've been sleeping. Trends start from the streets and rocking them like its nobody's biz is Toronto's very own JENNY JC. Her styles are off the chain and her anthem should be Beyonce's new joint DIVA...Cuz Jenny JC is a female version of a HUSTLA! You wanna befriend her? Get in line cuz she's got 5000 and more friend requests as we speak. Facebook that.. A dancer, a model, event host and truly different from everyone else - let's see what she has to say.

WHO IS JENNY JC!!
HEYDOYOU: DESCRIBE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH FASHION AND YOUR PERSONAL STYLE

JENNY JC: I am married to fashion. Fashion is like my spouse and part of my daily routine. Everyday I wake up, and appreciate that I have my own personal style. Fashion and style is like second nature to me and it shows the world how versatile and brave I AM!!
My personal style is defined as versatile from sexy, cute, stylish to rebellious, retro, comedic or fly and flashy. I can't really categorize my style under one certain type but I'm very creative. I've started trends and will continue to be a Fashion Icon because people love to watch my Fashion and Style!!

HEYDOYOU: WHAT IS YOUR ATTITUDE TOWARDS FOOD AND DO YOU COOK

JENNY JC: Attitude with food is HAPPY, HAPPY, JOY, JOY! Haha!
I absolutely love food and eating it! Do I cook? This is a question my family and friends will laugh at, they'll tell you the truth and it's NO! I will cook someday but not today! I mean I made lasagna from scratch ONCE and it turned out very well. I live a busy lifestyle, the entertainment industry lifestyle so cooking isn't a priority at the moment.

HEYDOYOU: TOP 5 TUNES ON YOUR IPOD

JENNY JC: 1. Miss Independent by Ne-yo
2. Whatever you like by Rihanna and T.I.
3. Green Light by John Legend and Andre 3000
4. Spotlight by Jennifer Hudson
5. I wonder if I take you home by Lisa Lisa and The Cult Jam

HEYDOYOU: WHAT'S YOUR DRINK WITH THE GIRLS/WITH THE GUYS/AT HOUSE PARTY/AT THE CLUB

JENNY JC: My drink would be bottled spring water especially the Nestle pure life brand cause I DISLIKE Dasani. Other drinks I would have are orange and cranberry juice. I don't drink alcohol. I don't need alcohol to have fun cause I have a "natural high".=)

HEYDOYOU: EVERYTHING BEGINS WITH A TRY - HOW DID YOU GET STARTED DOING WHAT YOU LOVE

JENNY JC: I began doing what I love which is everything dealing with entertainment such as dancing, modeling and fashion. I started dancing in elementary school, I remember everyday at recess time meeting up with my group of friends and making a circle, singing songs and going in the middle of the circle to show off our moves. Dancing was something I really enjoyed doing and will continue to do.

As for modeling, I started in high school and was asked to model in a lot of different fashion shows. It was really fun and I guess it runs in my blood because my mom used to be a model so she taught me different walks and advice on makeup, etc. Of course, I developed my own walk today! But that's funny, I just remembered my mom used to dance as well hahaha she had won Disco dancing awards from competitions and trust me she knows how to Boogie! She's a great inspiration to me! Love ya mommy!

For fashion and style it started from when I could dress myself and do my hair. I remember getting my first Calvin Klein sweater (even though it was a knock-off but who knew?! I wasn't rich, had to feed that piggy bank lol). It was a huge deal for me because that was a big fashion brand and with me being who I am, I had to have it. Fashion was important to me at such a young age, that I think my parents didn't get me name brand items on purpose, despite financial situations, worried that I would turn into a label-junkie. To this day, I'm not a label-junkie but I'm not totally against it either. I remember I used to take forever in the mornings for elementary school up to high school to do my hair and get my outfit, I always had my hair in something different like braids, ponytail, those coloured string things you twist in your hair, it was all a part of my style and fashion. I also remember when my parents told me not to wear something (might be revealing), but I would never listen unless they ripped it off me. I was very stubborn and still can be but I did what I wanted! Overall, dancing, modeling, and fashion was always in my blood and will continue to flow in my veins!!

HEYDOYOU: BAHAMAS BEACH BUNNY OR STYLISH SNOWY SOHO

JENNY JC: Bahamas Beach Bunny ALL THE WAY!!! I DETEST the cold and looking all bulky with layers, sweaters and parkas. Don't get me wrong, I still try and look good in winter lol.

HEYDOYOU: Toronto Bars (Your top 2 parties you never miss and why)

JENNY JC: Well, since I'm not being paid to promote/advertise any top bars I won't hahaha plus I don't really have any in mind at the moment. I've missed a bunch of parties, if you asked me 3 years ago I could probably name some like essence (which closed down). The club scene has really changed.

HEYDOYOU: IF YOU WERE A PERFUME WHICH WOULD YOU SMELL LIKE?

JENNY JC: Hmmm, I'm currently enjoying this version called Risky (mainly for the name) I guess you are what you smell like?! So yea, I would smell Risky! ;o)

WHAT'S NEXT FOR JENNY JC

JENNY JC: I look forward to the whole world of entertainment! I've been on television several times whether it be in music videos, modeling on CityTv Breakfast Television or in TV shows and movies. I love what I do. I look forward to my writing, singing career and furthering my dancing, modeling, fashion, acting and hosting career as well as starting my own clothing line. Doors have opened for me and I'm excited to see many more!

I give thanks to God and everyone, especially those who have helped me along the way and those who believe in me and especially those who don't want to believe in me and the haters THANK YOU!!!!
To all my fans/supporters, I luv y'all!

One of my favourite stores for unique gifts is ETSY.com This site is amazing and has original and cute items for that very hard to shop for person. You can shop by colour, category, material, price and location. All the products are by independent artists and craft lovers, so take a look im sure you will love it! Here are some of my picks for the day.

Lucky Me

Thank God for all the cupcakes and french fries I have been consuming... because i got the last leather H&M exclusive dress! This is part of their holiday party collection and only came in 1 shipment to only 1 location. I wouldn't have fit into the last size if I lost even 5 pounds haahhaa. So there was a lot of chatter about this online here at NITROLICIOUS and various UK sites.

Here it is, isn't it so adorable! I love it.
Because I have been out of town for the past week, I went to visit the Eaton Center with my girls and found out about this collection. Lucky me, got the last dress. Weee! I was mad that I missed out on the rest, but i didnt really miss out afterall. Its so supra cute and I just might wear it to the Warner Black Affair. Get your tickets soon cuz you dont want to miss the BIG ONE. Tweet This

MISSFIT NYC

Didn't find much at Century 21 but I did find this store called PYLONES around the corner and got these glass liquid cube rings! Love it!

Shopping in NY is a crazy mission. There is literally so much stuff that you have to sort them in your mind before you sort them and mentally process everything you see. Some of the stores are just filled with things that belong on the clearance rank and you know that it's totally mass produced.. But there are exceptions to every rule... I found these wicked lil shoes at Forever21. Even though the store was a disaster, I found the last pair of size 6! Meant to b!

So here I am strolling in Tribeca and i see these hand-painted tshirts and hoodies!
I grabbed a few, they are hot! I am so ready to rock my MISSFITNYC shirt with some leggings, boots and a slouchy hat. I will post about them when I get back for sure but in the mean time - check them out here: http://www.myspace.com/missfitnyc

nyc day 1: trail mix, shopping

So first day in NY after a great night rest perched 34 floors up in Chino's place, a condo in Battery Park City - the mini suburb of Manhattan. Pretty amazing view and a hop skip away from BK bridge, WTC and all the wonderful NY excitement. I wandered to Canal St and didn't find a lot of interesting thing so I jumped on the subway and headed up to Time Square... Just to go down Broadway far enough to discover the KIRA PLASTININA boutique. Wow! I knew of this 16 year old Russian designer from fash mags, youtube and fashionTV... But to see it in person! OMG so in love!!! Wait til you see the stuff I got! In the mean time...KIRAPLASTININA.com to see what all the fuss is about. Ps: trailmix is a great energy booster for those ny shopping days! My personal favs r tropical island and the yogurt mix. More in store tomorrow :) Tweet This

unblock everyone day

So I decided today that November 30 is going to be the offical 'UNBLOCK EVERYONE DAY'. This includes msn, facebook, aim, gtalk, and all that jazz. This is a chance for you to give everyone a second chance and see what happens. At first, no one will probably notice, but then you will see. Give them til December, and see if they were really so bad that you had to block them. Then if they prove to suck - then dont just block them but delete them permanently! Let's see how this works. PS, what do you think of the new layout? And the live tv? Tweet This

Panda Love

In 2 days, I will be Washington DC visiting the National Zoo. The National Zoological Park is a part of the Smithsonian Institution, the world’s largest museum and research complex. I am especially excited to see the 3rd panda born in captivity, Tai Shan. He is the first panda cub born at the National Zoo to survive for more than a few days and is only the third to survive in the United States. Bloggers have nicknamed him Butterstick when he was first born.
I went on the Zoo website to watch the Panda Cam and saw him live! I can't wait to go see him and his parents!

I went on Wiki and found out that baby pandas are only the size of a stick of butter when they are born... some pandas go in labour for more than 36 hours to give birth to them! Adults are about 250 lbs. Giant pandas are endangered species and that's why they have to breed in captivity. BUT it is not uncommon for them to lose interest in breeding without the natural competition.. so they use Viagara! It's true! To loan a panda from China, it costs US$ 1,000,000 a year.

Here is a list of the cubs born in North America:
Hua Mei, born 1999 in the San Diego Zoo, returned to China 2004.
Mei Sheng, born 2003 in the San Diego Zoo, returned to China 2007.
Tai Shan, born July 9, 2005 at the National Zoo in Washington.
Su Lin, born August 2, 2005 at the San Diego Zoo.
Mei Lan, born September 6, 2006 at Zoo Atlanta.
Zhen Zhen, born August 3, 2007 at the San Diego Zoo Tweet This

Mistura

Canada-based Mistura Beauty Goes to Hollywood

Newly launched Mistura Beauty to be Presenting Gift Sponsor at two Celebrity Events
OTTAWA, November 13th, 2008 - Ottawa-based cosmetics firm Mistura Beauty has announced that it has been selected as the presenting gifting suite sponsor for The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards® to be held in Hollywood, California on January 11th, 2009. Over 80 nominees and presenters will receive Mistura’s top-selling product, the 6-in-1 Beauty Solution™, a multi-functioning mineral-based powder that self-adjusts to all skin types and colors. “We have an exceptionally unique and revolutionary product” says Andi Marcus, President and CEO of Mistura Beauty. “Our all-in-one product is highly “pitchable” which makes it ideal for swag and giveaways.”
Mistura will follow the Golden Globes with a six day stint in Park City, Utah as a gifting sponsor for the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, further promoting their brand. “We have had tremendous success with celebrities in the past so it just made sense to continue these marketing strategies” notes Marcus, citing Olympians Nastia Liukin and Jennie Finch as Mistura enthusiasts in addition to actress Jill Hennessy and award-winning CNN reporter, Christiane Amanpour.

Mistura shot into the headlines in 2008 after their successful launch in March and after signing celebrity jockey and VOGUE® model, Chantal Sutherland, as the face of their Mistura product line. Sutherland, who recently vied for a win at the Breeder’s Cup as the only participating female jockey, has moved to Santa Anita, California to combine her thoroughbred racing with starring roles in two upcoming reality TV shows. She is scheduled to appear on David Letterman in December and plans to attend the Golden Globe event with Mistura in January. Mistura’s collaboration with Sutherland is both an industry first and a Canadian first which was covered by CTV News, NBC News and TSN. “It truly is a win-win situation for us all” says Marcus. “We have brought some glamour and freshness to an otherwise male-dominated sport and Chantal has worked tirelessly to promote our product from both an athlete’s and beauty enthusiast’s perspective.”
A SkyMall Top-Seller, Mistura’s 6-in-1 Beauty Solution ™ will soon be available at www.blissworld.com in addition to Miles Kimball’s As We Change catalogue. “We are expanding rapidly” notes Marcus “retailers love the fact that they don’t have a multi-item product line to worry about. There are no extensive inventory management issues and it is effectively a “try-and-buy” product. We are hoping that our concept will be appealing to larger establishments like Sephora, Bliss Spas and Canada-based Shopper’s Drug Mart in the upcoming months”. Asked where she feels the product would be most successful, Marcus adds “QVC, Canada-based TSC…any shopping channel to be honest. It would be an incredibly lucrative relationship and is therefore something that we are currently working towards. We intend to pursue this avenue vigorously.”

Mark Sparks

"Fulfillment of a promise that all men are created equal. That I can, as a young black man who grew up with a single parent in a less than favorable neighbourhood with little when it came to money but great wealth when it came to love, can become anything in this world that anyone else can become. That the twenty four hours in my day are the same amount as those in every other man's and that the length of my achievement depends on where I want to go and not where I have come from nor the color of my skin." read more MY NAME IS MARK SPARKS Tweet This

200 words on Foreign Exchange

Guest Blogger. That Guy

Leaving it All Behind is a great title and Nicolay decides to remind us what the first album sounds like with this clever atmospheric intro that picks up from where Foreign Exchange left off. This project is very smooth. Nicolay out did himself on this one, the Foreign Exchange sound is complete and official. Soulfully melodic, true to the heart, just a rap music master piece. Thanks for the Trumpet on ‘Take Off the Blues’ Stan Graham.

This time Foreign Exchange provides two master pieces to their album when you purchase it. Yes the instrumental version is included. Something for everyone, even for the DJ’s who don’t play vinyl anymore. It’s a beautiful touch because it’s the perfect Sunday album for the rap enthusiast. Vocally the arrangements are brilliant and Phonte’s authentic b-boy tone just ends up being the icing on the cake to this Nicolay instrumental enterprise. It would also be a sin for one not to mention the sultry romantic vocals of Darien Brockington. Although he has his own distinct sound like we heard on the first album, this time around I was constantly reminded of the sounds of Dwele, D’Angelo, and even Musiq all fused into this one Darien Brockington. If you haven’t heard him on any music yet now is the time.

If your energy is positive and authentic and you enjoy funk, jazz, rock, ambient, R&B and rap, then this album is truly for you. Cheers to Leaving it All Behind...The Foreign Exchange!
